This series consists of registers of students who attended the Mount Pleasant Indian School.
Volume 1 is for the period 1893 to 1906 and consists of two indexes. The first index is at the front of the book, and the second index is on pages 63–103.
This volume contains several different sections:
• Descriptive Record of Students as Admitted, 1893–1896 (pages 1–62). Generally, students are listed according to arrival date.
• Discharged from School, 1894–1896 (pages 140–45).
• Deaths (page 180).
• Historical Record, 1897–1906 (pages 195–529). beginning in 1897, students are listed according to school year and then by the number assigned to each student. Starting in 1900, boys and girls are listed separately for each year. At one point, these listings are also grouped in alphabetical sections, still listing boys and girls separately. The register headings include Number, Indian Name, English Name, Tribe, Father’s Name, P.O. Address, Parent’s “L” (living) or “D” (dead), Blood, Age, Height, Weight, Arrived at School, Period Entered, Departure, and Remarks.
Volume 2 is for the period from 1907 to 1914. It does not have an index. The register records students by school year. Boys, and then girls, are listed in alphabetical order within each year. The register headings include Number, Name, Tribe, Parents, Address, Degree of Indian Blood, Age, Admitted, Period Entered, Withdrawn, and Remarks.
Volume 3 is for the period from 1915 to 1932. It does not have an index. The register records students by school year. Boys, and then girls, are listed in alphabetical order within each year. The register headings include Number, Name, Tribe, Parents, Address, Degree of Indian Blood, Age, Admitted, Period Entered, Withdrawn, and Remarks.
