This series contains correspondence, memorandums, and other material dealing with the 1965 inauguration of Lyndon B. Johnson as President and with the 1965 Inaugural Committee; White House mail Room logs; material dealing with President Johnson's trip to Asia to attend the Manila Conference in October 1966; material dealing with the Federal Summer Intern program in 1965; and office files from the White House Office of Legislative Liaison. The series contains office files from the 1964 Presidential campaign, including extensive polling data, political news summaries, and compilations relating to Senator Barry Goldwater, William Miller, Hubert Humphrey, and the record of the John F. Kennedy - Lyndon B. Johnson administrations. The series also contains daily issues of the Congressional Record with paperclips marking speeches delivered in the House and Senate on behalf of or against the Johnson administration, with summary sheets indicating the number of speeches given in each house for or against the Johnson administration. The series includes material from January 1969 which is ready to be filed in the White House Central Files (WHCF) Name File; letters to the President that received a card response; a small quantity of Christmas and Get Well greeting cards sent to the President, often with letters attached; a variety of newsletters sent to the President; letters from classes of grade school children, a small quantity of Vietnam mail; postcards from the public urging a balanced budget and tax reductions; postcards sent to the President with the word "Duck" written on them; postcards concerning the selection of a new Attorney General in 1964; and condolence mail following the assassination of President Kennedy. The series contains letters, telegrams, and postcards; clippings; reports; compilations; summaries; publications; forms; card files; stationary samples; stenographer pads; tapes from stenographic machines; lists; and other material.
