Abdnor Collection

1903 - 2004

The James Abdnor Collection consists of four accessions of records documenting Abdnor's political career. The Congressional Records accessions are the largest, and contain correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, sound and video recordings, legislative bill files, campaign research, and other records documenting Abdnor's time in the U.S. House and Senate, and as the Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration. The Huron Field Office Files accession consists of correspondence, newspaper clippings, and campaign files maintained by Ruth Flesner at Abdnor's field office in Huron, SD. Flesner was actively involved in the Beadle County Republican Women organization, so the accession includes information on that group as well. The fourth accession contains photographs, school records, and campaign documents donated by the Abdnor family after his death. Photographs include images of Abdnor's family and childhood as well as some of his professional appearances.
