Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney (February 20, 1899 – December 13, 1992), commonly known as C. V. Hoyt Sanford Vandenberg (January 24, 1899 – April 2, 1954) was a United States Air Force general. He served as the second Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and the second Director of Central Intelligence. Vandenberg was born at Milwaukee, Wis., in 1899.
