Summary: LSD Havana harbor and shoreline. VS, military posters on walls and buildings. Children entering school. Int, classroom; teacher writing on blackboard. Night, men and women armed with rifles stand guard at stores in shopping district. LS, medical supplies and food unloaded from ship. VS, old men, women, and children are evacuated. They board the Red Cross ship Shirley Lykes. The sick are taken on litters aboard the ship. Cubans are issued rifles and machine guns. CUBAN PRISONERS RETURN TO.: Miami, Florida: 12/23/1962: Tremendous crowds at airport. Released prisoners come down ramp of plane and rush to greet their families and friends. They embrace and kiss. MCU, James B Donovan, New York lawyer who was responsible for their release, speaks at microphone and poses before cameras at airport. Refugees being helped down gangway of Red Cross ship at dock. Nurses assist mothers with small children. Group of released prisoners riding in open convertible past camera. Men are seen in church praying at altar.
