Mary Jo Kilroy became the first Democrat to represent the 15th Ohio Congressional district in more than forty years when she defeated Republican Steve Stivers in 2008. From 2009-2010, Kilroy served in the 111th Congress where she was a part of the House Committee on Financial Services that focused on consumer protections and small businesses. Kilroy also focused on health care reform and was a promoter of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Mary Jo Kilroy (born April 30, 1949) is an American lawyer and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she served as the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 15th congressional district from 2009 until 2011. Born in Euclid, Ohio and raised in Cleveland, she graduated from Villa Angela Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1967.
