Official Case Files for Wage and Hour (WH) Cases

1938-1967

This series consists of case files relating to requests for the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to certify that a union was a “bona fide” representative of the employees of a given unit, under the terms of Section 7(b) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA). Once certified, the union and the employer could, as part of their collective bargaining, vary somewhat the overtime provisions of the FLSA. The NLRB designated these as Wage and Hour or "WH" cases. The exact contents of the case files vary, however they frequently include petitions from labor unions for certification, copies of the contract between the labor organization and employer or other evidence submitted by the labor union, and documentation of the actions of the NLRB in response to the petition.
