This series consist of prints documenting activities relating to Lambert Field Air Station, in St. Louis, MO. About one third are prints, the rest negatives. The majority of the images are of various types of naval aircraft, and old and new uniforms of the WAVES, WACS, Marines, and Army Nurses. Also included are aerial oblique views of Lambert Field, Medal of Honor Winner John Basilone, Admiral Chester Nimitz, the WAVES second birthday party, and the canine security force. Other images show sailors on liberty, enjoying a St. Louis Browns baseball game, an elephant ride at the zoo, art galleries, dancing, and other off-duty activities.

John Basilone (November 4, 1916 – February 19, 1945) was a United States Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant who received the Medal of Honor for heroism above and beyond the call of duty during the Battle for Henderson Field in the Guadalcanal Campaign, and the Navy Cross posthumously for extraordinary heroism during the Battle of Iwo Jima.
