The chronological part of this series contains copies of Bundy's outgoing correspondence, including copies of his memorandums to President Lyndon Johnson and other administration officials, as well as his personal correspondence. The subject part of this series contains correspondence, reports, speech drafts, notes, memorandums, agendas, and notes of meetings with President Lyndon Johnson and others. Topics include the Vietnam War; nuclear weapons and disarmament, including the Multilateral Force (MLF) and the development of the Chinese nuclear program; foreign aid, including food and economic aid to India, Pakistan, and other countries; administrative operations and personnel management, including ambassadorial recommendations; proposed foreign travel by the President; cabinet members' requests for foreign travel; correspondence and memorandums with various U.S. ambassadors, including Chester Bowles and Charles Bohlen; correspondence with Henry Kissinger; military support, military intelligence, and public opinion about the Vietnam War; U.S. policy in the Dominican Republic; and notes of meetings regarding Vietnam, Southeast Asia, Panama, Cyprus, Africa, and Israel. This subseries also contains material related to the Soviet Union, China, and NATO, and a copy of Vice President Johnson's report on his 1961 trip to Southeast Asia, Vietnam, India, and Pakistan.

McGeorge Bundy (1919-1996) was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the national security advisor to Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He attended school at private institutions, including Dexter, Groton, and Yale University, from which he graduated first in his class with a degree in mathematics.
