The Oval Office Sound Recordings were recorded between February 16, 1971 and July 12, 1973. These recordings document many of the major events and decisions of the Nixon Administration during that time period. The recorded conversations were used to capture a record of conversations that the President had, particularly those without the presence of aides or members of the White House staff. President Nixon also planned to use the recordings in preparing his memoirs.
