This collection contains all correspondence between specific members of the Clinton Administration’s Domestic Policy Council -- Bruce Reed, Elena Kagan, Leon Panetta, Erskine Bowles, and John Podesta -- and specific members of the British government -- Alastair Campbell, David Miliband, Patricia Hewitt MP, Ed Balls, Gordon Brown MP, and Professor Anthony Giddens. The collections primarily contains emails between David Miliband and Bruce Reed. They are mostly conversational in tone, with some discussion concerning meetings amongst themselves and various counter-parts. The emails also includes brief mentions of welfare reform, livability, education policy and initiatives, and the G8 and NATO summits.

Leon Edward Panetta was born on June 28, 1938, in Monterey, California. His parents were both immigrants from Italy. He was raised in the Monterey area and attended Santa Clara University, graduating in 1960 with a degree in political science. In 1963, he graduated with a law degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and served in the U.S. Army until 1965.
