This series consists of ordinances and resolutions passed by the Oglala Sioux Tribal Council or its executive committee. The records provide information on subjects relating to the operation of the tribe, including definitions of terms used in the tribal constitution; the plan of operation of tribal enterprises; the use of tribal funds; the tribal budget; the employment of individuals by the tribe; hunting and fishing on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation; a law and order code; the tribal police; and the "prohibition of showing uncivilized practices of the Oglala Sioux." A few related records are included, such as excerpts from the minutes of tribal council meetings and a copy of an Act of Congress regarding Indian land. Also present are an undated copy of the tribal bill of rights; portions of what appear to be the bylaws of the tribal council; the bylaws of the Provisional League of Women Voters of Pine Ridge; amendments to the tribal zoning code; and the "Administrative Operating Procedures of the Tribes," dated 1962. The records also include a few resolutions of reservation district councils.
