This series contains correspondence and memorandums collected by Robert Komer during his service as National Security Council (NSC) Staff Assistant to McGeorge Bundy, Deputy Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, and Special Assistant to the President in charge of pacification in Vietnam. Major subjects reflected in the material includes arms control and disarmament, intelligence, the space program, nuclear testing, military assistance programs, counter-insurgency, guerilla warfare, policy planning, international trade, food assistance, pacification, and the Peace Corps. In addition, the series contains information on the geographic areas for which Komer was responsible including China, Western Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, and Vietnam.
