This file unit contains photographs of the Old House at Peacefield and the surrounding grounds at what is now called the Adams National Historical Park, located in Quincy, Massachusetts. The photographs were taken to document the estate for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The photographs depict the mansion, as well as the Stone Library, garden, pond and carriage house. Peacefield was home to U.S. Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams; U.S. First Ladies Abigail Adams and Louisa Catherine Adams; U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom Charles Francis Adams; and historians Henry Adams and Brooks Adams.
