This series consists of presidential pardons relating primarily to criminal cases that occurred in the Circuit Court of the Eastern District of Kentucky. Included are pardons signed by Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, and Ulysses S. Grant. The pardons relate to such offenses as treason, robbery of the mails, and assault and battery.

Ulysses S. Grant (born Hiram Ulysses Grant, April 27, 1822, Point Pleasant, Ohio-died July 23, 1885, Wilton, New York) was the 18th president of the United States, serving from 1869 to 1877.
