Concerning a claim by a creditor (an unnamed publisher?) on the funds in one of Scott's accounts; discussing in detail the publication of two works, remarking that he had been assured that funds deposited into this account would not be available to creditors and that otherwise he would either pocketed the funds or would not have published the manuscripts. Saying he is glad that Lord Newton has decided in their favor. Referencing other publishing bargains; enclosing a note to Mr. Dickson; returning to the original topic, remarking "you will judge whether anything decisive can be got from the Arbiter on the plea." Noting that he opened and deposited funds into the account "upon the distinct understanding that if the works were theirs they were to have them - if ours we were to have them."
