Scottish Universities' Unionist Association was set up to promote unionist principles in the university parliamentary constituencies and to secure their representation in parliament. The members of the association were made up of Scottish university voters professing unionist principles. There was no compulsory subscription but members were invited to contribute voluntarily. The association was governed by an executive and an ordinary committee. The first honorary presidents were Sir George A Berry and John Buchan .
