Margaret McCreery Landacre, born Margaret Gertrude McCreery, in Illinois in 1891, moved to San Diego with her family in the early 1910s. Around 1923, moved to Los Angeles to further her career as a writer. Married artist Paul Landacre in 1925, and settled in the Edendale neighborhood of Los Angeles. In the 1920s, worked for bookseller Jake Zeitlin, who became a supporter of Paul Landacre's artistic work. From the 1920s, Margaret worked as a copywriter and magazine writer; she also volunteered for various civil rights and charitable causes. She died of cancer in Los Angeles in 1963.
