Charles A.L. Lamar, businessman and Confederate officer, was born 11 April 1824, and died 16 April 1865, in Columbus, Georgia.

He had interests in real estate, finance, cotton, guano (fertilizer), shipping, and slave trade. Lamar was an organizer and lieutenant colonel of the 7th Battalion which merged with the 61st Georgia Infantry. He was involved in blockade running was killed at Columbus, Georgia, in one of the last battles of the Civil War.
