Josephine Weeks was a longtime resident of Alexandria, Va., who was active in the restoration of that city's Old Town neighborhood and the preservation of historic buildings elsewhere. A native of Washington, D.C., she studied at George Washington University and the University of Paris. During the 1920s, she worked for the U.S. State Department and the Mexican Claims Commission.
Marie Josephine Schaefer Weeks was born to Joseph and Anna Schaefer, 18 February 1902, in Washington, D.C. In 1930 she married lawyer Mangum Weeks (1895-1977) She died 30 March 1981 in Alexandria, Va.
