Kline, John Kenneth, 1875-1930.

Scholar of American literature and great supporter of Woodrow Wilson's foreign policy, Kline was a journalist, editor, and publisher in the midwest, of the Progressivist tradition. He had a book collection centering on the classics of English literature in the wighteenth and nineteenth centuries. This was given to Stanford Libraries in 1980 by his caughter, Mrs. William A.C. Roethke. The gift is known as the Kline/Roethke Collection.
