Créé par Henry Dunant, lors de la bataille de Solférino, la Croix-Rouge s’impose dès son origine comme un mouvement international d’aide et d’assistance aux victimes. La Croix-Rouge, par son action constante en faveur des victimes, et la diffusion de son éthique de tolérance et de dialogue contribue à la prévention des conflits et des tensions.

La Croix-Rouge française (CRF) est la Société nationale de la Croix-Rouge française créée en 1864 et connue à l'origine sous le nom de Société française de secours aux blessés militaires (SSBM).
