Hutchinson, John, 1793-1865
Native of Tinmouth, Vermont; came to Hamburg, N.Y. with his family in 1810.

First Wesleyan Minister to be ordained in Australia. Following a short period as a missionary in Tonga he returned to Sydney in 1828 before becoming superintendent of the Female House of Correction at Hobart in 1832. His wife, Mary, was appointed matron and was placed in charge of the Female Factory in Launceston in 1851 when John Hutchinson's health failed.
