The Public Relations Division conducted all public affairs and information activities of the Panama Canal Commission and promoted a general understanding of the objectives and operations of the Panama Canal to employees, the people of Panama, the United States, worldwide Canal customers, and the international public. This was to further the cooperative relationship embodied in the Panama Canal Treaty of 1977. It produced the Panama Canal Commission's newspaper, general information brochures, and all special publications and exhibits. The Division provided photographic, graphic arts and audiovisual services to other units through the Audio Visual Services Branch, and had responsibility for all orientation service functions and printing services functions.
