Steve M. Slaby, professor of engineering at Princeton from 1953 to 1991, taught courses in spatial analysis and descriptive geometry and served as the second (and final) chair of the Graphics and Engineering Drawing Department from 1962-1968. He wrote a textbook, DESCRIPTIVE GEOMETRY, and a manual on the use of the slide-rule.

Slaby was also one of the University's few political activists, opposing U.S. involvement in Vietnam and University investment in South Africa, and promoting student and faculty liberties.
