Governor (1844-1846), U.S. Senator (1851-1857), and husband of Henrietta Lowndes Aiken; David Aiken (1786-1860) was husband of Nancy Kerr Aiken and father of Hugh Kerr Aiken; Hugh Kerr Aiken, planter and cotton factor of Charleston and Fairfield District, S.C., was husband of Mary Gayle Aiken.
