James Wheeler was a soldier in an unnamed Kentucky regiment of the U.S. Army fighting in Georgia. The photostat was made in June 1928 for Grace Muncey Masters, first vice-president of the Kentucky Division of the United Children of the Confederacy, and for the Quill Club of the Kentucky Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. A note on the photostat identified the Wheeler brothers as residents of Lawrence County, Kentucky.
