Elinor Frances Meacham Redington (Nellie) was the daughter of Alfred B. Meacham, Superintendent of Indian Affairs in Oregon (1869-1872) and wife of John Watermelon Redington, Indian scout and newspaper editor-publisher.

Elinor Frances Meacham Redington (Nellie) was the daughter of Alfred B. Meacham, Superintendent of Indian Affairs in Oregon (1869-1872) and wife of John Watermelon Redington, Indian scout and newspaper editor-publisher.

She was expelled from Willamette University for "whispering," but later graduated in 1877, and taught in several cities throughout Oregon.
