Vice President for Health Affairs Joseph F. Volker appointed the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on 7 June 1966 to report on the organization of the University of Alabama Hospitals and Clinics in relation to the Medical College of Alabama; study the role of the chief-of-staff; and present a report on the subject by 7 August 1966. Dr. Walter B. Frommeyer served as committee chair, and Dr. Charles H. Lupton, Jr., served as committee secretary. The committee held six formal meetings and presented a report on their findings by the August 7 deadline.
