Ellyn Stecker, a South Bend, Ind., physician, was co-chairperson for the National Organization for Women (NOW), St. Joseph Valley (Indiana) Chapter from circa 1985 to the late 1990s. She was also an editor of "Around the Bend," the newsletter of the Peace Education Fund of Indiana, Inc. The St. Joseph Valley Chapter of NOW was founded circa 1981 by students at Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind. NOW's concerns include reproductive rights, lesbian rights, older women's concerns, racial diversity, and employment and wage legislation.
