Henry Spiese Aurand (1894-1980) was Commanding General of the 6th Service Command form 1942 to 1944, and Commanding Officer of the Normandy Base Section from 1944 to 1945. During 1945 Aurand was the Commanding General of Services of Supply of the China Theater. During 1946 he was Commanding General of the Africa-Middle East Theater, and from 1946 to 1948 was the Director of Research and Development for the U.S. War Department. From 1948 to 1949, he was Director of Logistics for the General Staff of the U.S. Army. From 1949 to 1952, Aurand was Commanding General of the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. From 1954 to 1963, he worked as a newspaper columnist.
