Representatives from the following Quaker organizations: American Friends Service Committee; Friends Committee on National Legislation; Friends World Committee for Consultation; Board on Peace and Social Concerns (Five Years Meeting); Peace and Social Order Committee (Friends General Conference); and Friends Peace Committee (Philadelphia Yearly Meeting) formed the Friends Coordinating Committee. It served liaison, coordination, and clearinghouse purposes for the constituent groups. It worked for the development and promotion of ideas and activities in peace work.
