Coert du Bois, 1881-1960, born at Hudson, N.Y., was educated at the Biltmore Forest School. He began his career with the United States Forest Service in 1900 and in 1917, du Bois became an officer in the United States Army. He remained there until 1920, when he became a member of the U.S. Consular Service. As an official in the Foreign Service, du Bois held several prominent positions until he retired in 1948. He died in 1960.
