Judge David H. Adams is a retired American bankruptcy attorney and judge primarily associated with the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges and the US Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Virginia. He attended Washington and Lee University, receiving his A.B. in 1965 and his J.D. in 1968, and shortly thereafter began his career as a law clerk for US District Judge John A. MacKenzie. Judge Adams practiced privately from 1969 to 1993, after which he served as a judge in the US Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of Virginia from 1993-2008 and subsequently served as a recalled judge in the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida in 2008 and 2010-2011, respectively. He is known for his involvement with the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges, having served as its president in 2004, secretary in 2000, and on its Board of Governors from 1996-1999.
