Perl, William R.

William Raphael Perl (1906-1998), Jewish leader, U.S. Army veteran, psychologist, and lawyer. Spent youth in Vienna, organized a group which smuggled thousands of Jews into Palestine in the 1930s. Joined U.S. Army, 1941 and served until 1966. Prosecuted German soldiers accused of the murder of U.S. prisoners of war at Malmédy, Belgium. Active in the Washington branch of Jewish Defense League.
