W.C. Snyder was a career employee in the Transportation Dept. of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company. On April 1, 1890, he was promoted from Assistant Trainmaster of the Pittsburgh Division to Trainmaster of the Altoona Division, which consisted of the important Altoona Yards and the local branches lying south and east of this major railroad center. On June 1, 1903, the Altoona Division was merged into the Middle Division, and Snyder became Assistant Trainmaster in charge of branches with an office at Hollidaysburg, Pa. He retired under the pension regulations at age 70 on October 1, 1914.
