James Morton Peterson, son of James Morten and Laura Hansine Christine Hansen Peterson of Richfield, Utah, was born on July 12, 1879. In 1903, he married Louisiana Carrie Heppler (6 July 1882), daughter of Andrew and Louisiana Seegmiller Heppler, in Salt Lake City, Utah, and settled in Richfield. James and his wife raised a family of twelve children. Later in life, James was called as President of the Texas Mission, serving from March 1935 - March 1937. Peterson died in Salt Lake City July 7, 1939 and was buried in Richfield.

James M. Peterson, Jr. (1879- ) banker and politician.
James M. Peterson, Jr. was born 21 July 1879 in Richfield, Sevier County, Utah Territory, to James Morton Peterson and Laura Christine Hansen Peterson. His parents emigrated from Denmark after converting to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His father founded a bank and later a manufacturing company, named after himself. James Jr.’s parents divorced in 1884, and he lived with his father. His father remarried in 1896, to Sarah Johnson. James Jr. attended Brigham Young Academy in 1895 and the Latter-day Saint College in Salt Lake in 1896. He took over his father’s bank when his father’s health began to fail, and served as a delegate to the county convention, and sang at campaigns all over the country. He traveled all over Scandinavia. He ran for governor of Sevier County. The journal does not contain marriage information or a death date for him.
