The Washington Library Association is an organization whose purpose is the promotion of library service, continuing education, and library advocacy on behalf of the people of Washington State. WLA's activities includes conducting meetings, offering programs including an annual conference, issue publications and offer information and assistance to libraries, communities and governments associated with libraries and information services, as well as other activities that may be identified from time to time.
The Southwest District Libraries Association of the State of Washington, also known as the Southwest Washington Library Association, goal was the promotion of library interests and service throughout Southwest Washington. It was an organization of librarians who were interested in library development in Washington that met annually. It appears that the organization was founded about 1943. By the 1962 annual meeting a motion was requested to be considered at the next meeting to that it was the consensus of this meeting that the Southwest Washington Library Association be dissolved for the present. It was requested that a postscript be added to the minutes of the meetings. At the 1963 annual meeting the motion to dissolve the organization was discussed. It was moved, seconded and carried that the Southwest Washington District Library Association be dissolved at the Nov. 1963 Annual Meeting.
