Monroe Fulkerson Cockrell (1884-1972) lived in Evanston, Illinois, and served as Vice President of the Continental and Illinois National Bank and Trust Company in Chicago. He was also a Civil War historian and genealogist and wrote numerous books, including History of Early Dallas (1944), Gunner with Stonewall: Reminiscences of Thomas Poague (1957), and The Early Cockrells in Missouri (1966).
