Guess, George W., 1829-1868
Variant namesGeorge W. Guess was a colonel in the Dallas Light Artillery Company and later in the 31st Regiment of the Texas Volunteer Cavalry of the Confederate Army. He was acquainted with Sarah Horton Cockrell of Dallas, Texas. In Sept. 1863, Guess was court-martialed for trade with the Federal forces, and in the same month, he was confined as a Confederate prisoner in a Federal prison in New Orleans, Louisiana.
