Edwin Mortimer Hopkins was a member of the Princeton University class of 1888, earning an AB in English and completing his MA a year later. After graduating he became a faculty member at the University of Kansas, returning briefly to Princeton to complete his pHD in 1894. Hopkins served on the faculty at the University of Kansas from 1891 until 1937. During his time there he was instrumental in forming the National Council of Teachers of English and the American Quill Society.
