Stewart, Philip Battell, 1865-1957
Variant namesPhilip Battell Stewart was born in Middlebury, Vt., son of John Wolcott and Emma (Battell) Stewart; graduated from Yale University in 1886; studied law at Yale; moved to Washington State and then to Colorado in the late 1890s where he worked with mining companies and public utilities for many years. In 1893 he married Frances Cowles and they had one child: John Wolcott Stewart.
