Small, Robert S. (Robert Scott), 1915-2007
Variant namesSouth Carolina textile company executive. The son of Robert Scott Small (1891-1931), a banker, Small has been an officer of the South Carolina National Bank, treasurer of the Ottaray Textiles and Haynesworth Mills, president of the Woodside Mills, and president and C.E.O. of the Dan River Mills. He is a director of the Federal Reserve Bank and other concerns. In addition, Small has served as a member of the advisory board of Furman University, which gave him the degree of Doctor of Laws in 1964; as a member of the Board of Trustees of the College of Charleston; and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Greenville General Hospital. The College of Charleston library is named in honor of Robert Scott Small.
