Bennet, Robert, 1605-1683
Variant namesColonel Robert Bennet of Hexworthy in Lawhitton, Cornwall, was one of the leading Parliamentarians in the south-west of England, specifically Devon and Cornwall, during the Commonwealth. He was at different times governor of Pendennis Castle, governor of St. Michael's Mount, an M.P. and a member of the Council of State and of other commissions.
