Sidney Sonnino was born in Pisa, Italy in 1847. He was elected to the House of Deputies in 1880, was finance minister from 1893-1896, and prime minister in 1906 and from 1909-1910. As foreign minister (1914-1920), he denounced the Triple Alliance. Sonnino died in Rome in 1922.
