Lowell Machine Shop.
Textile machinery manufacturing company, Lowell, Mass. Incorporated 1845. In its early years it also manufactured locomotives, turbine water-wheels, machine tools, and paper-mill machinery. In 1912 the firm merged with the Saco-Pettee Company to form the Saco-Lowell Machine Shops. The shops in Lowell were closed in 1931.
