Historian and genealogist, of Chattanooga, Tenn.; b. 1886 in Chattanooga, Tenn.; d. 1985; descendent of pioneer Hamilton County, Tenn., families; noted authority on history and genealogy of the region and on the Cherokees; during the 1930s wrote the genealogical series "Leaves from the Family Tree"; state coordinator of the WPA Historical Records Survey project.
