  • 1890, Dec. 21: Married Minnie Eunice Moore in Alabama of Gallant, Alabama
  • 1891: Joined Alabama Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church
  • 1892 - 1896 : Four years of ministry on Wedowee Circuit in Alabama
  • 1893: Ordained deacon by Bishop Isaac W. Joyce
  • 1895: Ordained elder by Bishop John Fletcher Hurst
  • 1899: Graduated from U.S. Grant School of Theology in Chattanooga, Tennessee; Valedictorian
