Alfred Alexander Woodhull, 1837-1921 was a military surgeon. He graduated from the College of New Jersey with a B.A. degree in 1856 and an M.A. in 1859. In that same year he graduated from the medical department of the University of Pennsylvania. He saw active service throughout the Civil War, became an authority on public health and was a contributor to medical literature. He was in Savannah, Georgia during the yellow fever epidemic of 1876.

A graduate from the University of Pennsylvania's medical dept. in 1859, Woodhull served in the Union army medical corps and was a surgeon and medical inspector during the Civil War. A sanitation expert, he remained in the army until retirement (1901) and authored a number of medical works.
