Lakey, George.
Variant namesGeorge Lakey combined the roles of pacifist, activist, teacher, and writer. He was imprisoned for civil rights sit-ins; he taught at the Martin Luther King School of Social Change, Haverford College, and the University of Pennsylvania. He co-chaired A Quaker Action Group and was project director of the voyage of the Phoenix, a sailing ship which transported medical supplies to North and South Vietnam during the Vietnamese Conflict.
